STEM Hosts Summer Soccer Camp

STEM Hosts Summer Soccer Camp

During the summer, Coach Michael Gruden and Coach Aiman Bayoumi, head coaches of Livonia/STEM soccer teams, hosted two soccer camps. The first camp was for students in grades 5th-12th and was centered on competition. Players were allowed an opportunity to try out for teams at STEM/Livonia, or other teams within the parish, for the upcoming year. The second camp was open to younger residents, pre-k to 4th grade, of Pointe Coupee Parish.

During the camp, players used snipers nets, training dummies, video games, and even parachutes.  Most of the players had previously played in a recreational soccer league; therefore, they left with a great foundation to take back to their youth teams.

Students from the STEM/LHS team who volunteered their time were: Rory Blackmore, Dante Sahin-Smith, Holden Larimore, Gabriel Chenevert, and Julian Chenevert.  These young men did a wonderful job and showed the true spirit of teamwork!

Soccer Camp 2017 was sponsored by local sponsors (i.e. Kellerman Kitchen and Bath) and Body Armor, a national company that also sponsored the US Gold Cup.

The camp was a huge success and the future of soccer in Pointe Coupee looks brighter!
