Notice to Public


Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23(C) of the Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public hearing of the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board will be held at its regular meeting place in the Board Room of the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board Office, located at 377 Napoleon Street, New Roads, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.  The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from increased millage of the Parish Wide School Tax is $2,096,328.64, and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $69,343.02. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next tax year from increased millage of the Special Parish Wide School Tax is $5,522,475.67, and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $182,673.62. 


Pointe Coupee Parish Public Schools Announces Intent to Apply for Grant

The Pointe Coupee Parish Public School System is announcing its intent to apply for the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) Grant for all of its schools.  The purpose of the grant is to provide funding to create community learning centers that will implement both academic, enrichment, and STEM activities for its students. The period of the contract for this grant is scheduled to begin September 1, 2016 through August 30, 2019. The Louisiana Department of Education has the right to contract with Pointe Coupee Parish Schools for up to three (3) years upon approval.  However, continuance of the contract in years two and three will be contingent upon the district meeting performance measures as it relates to federal and state requirements.

A community forum will be held on Monday, April 11th at 5:30 p.m.at the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board Office. At this meeting, we will seek input on what academic and enrichment activities stakeholders would like offered in the 21st CCLC program. Parents, students, community stakeholders and business owners are encouraged to attend. Chapter 709, Part B of Bulletin 140 states that “The lead agency shall provide an opportunity for each publicly-funded program in the community network and the general public in the coverage area of the community network to comment on the proposed funding request prior to submission to the department and shall include documentation of this process in the funding request.”

Act 677 requires that each local education agency (LEA) make information available about the transfer of personally identifiable student information.  Below you will find a link to a listing of vendors with whom we share student information.  The Pointe Coupee Parish School Board does not share student information for monetary gain.  Information is only shared to enhance the educational experience of our students through the use of tools, such online textbook supplements. Additionally, information may also be shared with vendors who provide programs necessary for the operation of our schools, such as a student information system or school lunch database. Please note that we require that all vendors adhere to the terms outlined in Act 837 for protecting, sharing, and destroying student information.  If you have any questions about the information listed below or if you would like to report an unauthorized transfer of your child's information, please contact Lacey Bueche, Supervisor of Technology Services, at (225)638-8674.
