All twelve-month employees of the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board earn annual leave with pay per fiscal year (July 1-June 30).


A maternity leave or a leave without pay granted by the Board will not interrupt continuous service under this policy, but such leave shall not be included as part of the total years of service in determining the amount of annual leave earned.


Annual leave may be accumulated and carried forward as earned up to a maximum of forty (40) working days.  Any annual leave beyond forty (40) working days will not be credited to the employee's accumulated leave except where specifically authorized by the Superintendent or the Board or when earned prior to June 30, 1998.


Any unused annual leave at the time of separation (termination, resignation, retirement, entrance into DROP, or death) shall be paid to the employee or his/her heirs on or before the next regular payday for the pay cycle during which the employee was working at the time of separation or no later than fifteen (15) days following the date of separation, whichever occurs first, at the employee's daily rate of pay.


For persons with more than forty (40) days of annual leave as of June 30, 1998, the full amount of annual leave will be carried forward.  However, the amount of annual leave for this group of people shall never exceed the amount carried forward as of June 30, 1998.
