The Pointe Coupee Parish School Board shall require treatment for first aid and emergencies to be in accordance with the following:

  1. Minor abrasions and cuts shall be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide or soap and water and a suitable bandage applied if needed.  Parents shall administer any additional treatment required.

  2. In the event of a more serious injury or illness to a student at the school site during school hours, the principal or other person in charge of the school at the time shall make an independent good faith judgment in the matter as to proper treatment.

  3. Parents shall be notified and asked that they transport their children to an appropriate doctor or emergency room, whenever possible.  In some instances it will be impossible to contact the parent or guardian of the child, and first aid should be administered by school personnel.  If warranted, the child may be transported either to the most appropriate physician or an appropriate emergency room for such medical treatment as the condition requires.
