Lauren Clark, a professional artist, introduced fourth graders to a series of photographs that she had taken. Students were then shown pictures of paintings that were done based on the photos. During the introduction, she focused on shapes, colors and creating an impression of what she was depicting. Over the course of three sessions, students were attentive, engaged and creative. They made great observations and offered positive feedback to their peers by sharing something they liked about each other’s paintings.
Mrs. Gale Roy, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Pointe Coupee, was able to offer this project to the students through the Gaudet grant from the Episcopal Community Services.
