Livonia High School Welding Team Exhibits Skill at High School Craft Competition

Livonia High School Welding Team Exhibits Skill at High School Craft Competition

On April 11th, three welding students in Randy Jarreau’s class convened on the campus of Associated Builders and Contractors in Gonzales.  These young men participated in an array of activities that tested their welding skills. Safety judges observed them during the practical exam on such areas as tool safety and proper use of personal protective equipment.  The young men were also tested by a written examination. The goal of the ABC High School Welding Craft Competition was to give everyone an opportunity to win and most importantly, to have an enjoyable and rewarding experience preparing for the event.   Good, clean competition and friendship among competitors were truly encouraged. The LHS Welding Team, which consists of Brennan Oubre, Tristan LeBlanc and Ramon Sandoval, placed 2nd overall with their superior welds. Brennan Oubre competed in the V Groove category and as an individual welder, placed first out of 42 welders from six parishes.  The faculty and staff of Livonia High School commend these young men on their hard work and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
