UPCE Provides “Opportunities” to Students

UPCE Provides “Opportunities” to Students

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade at Upper Pointe Coupee Elementary are in for a great year.  Students are developing motor, language, and social skills through interests and opportunities that promote critical thinking, science literacy, and enable innovation, all while supporting students in developing leadership skills. Interests and opportunities provide students with access to a well-rounded education, exposing them to diverse areas of learning where they can develop their skills and talents in areas such as the arts, world languages, leadership development, and technology skills.

Interest & Opportunities at UPCE include:

  • World Languages: Kindergarten and first-grade students are exposed to the world language of Spanish, while second-grade students are engaged in learning French.
  • Tech Skills: Third through fifth-grade students learn technical skills such as computer basics, typing, and multimedia.
  • Arts and Leadership: Sixth through eighth-grade students are diving deep into STEM education through yoga, robotics, pound (a STEM exercise that requires rhythm and movement based on calculation of a beat), creative arts, weird science, and home economics.

Students are enjoying these high-interest opportunities so much that UPCE was recognized as being the only school in the district with every student having less than 5 unexcused absences during the month of August.  Way to go Bulldogs!
