Bulldogs Find Joy in ELA

Bulldogs Find Joy in ELA

UPCE Bulldogs are engaging in ELA in ways that bring joy! It’s all about the little extras that have these students so pumped up about leaning.
  • Third graders use plastic Halloween witch fingers to track reading as their teacher reads aloud.
  • Students from third to fifth grade each have a unique reading song that gets them pumped up for the text and allows them to get all of their crazy dance moves out before reading begins.
  • Students in 3rd-5th also collaborate in group projects that push critical thinking skills while getting them up out of their seats and working creatively.

While they often realize that their unit’s books don’t require anything “extra” to pull them in, having joyful class routines to go along with their reading help these third - fifth grade students get engaged and stay engaged!
