5th Grade Science Experiments

5th Grade Science Experiments

Students in 5th grade science at STEM have been conducting many investigations as they learn about ecosystems and food webs. They recently concluded a four-week investigation to learn what plants need to grow. Many students were shocked to learn their hypotheses were incorrect. Most of them thought the plants ate the soil. They recorded the quantitative and qualitative data and used that information to defend an argument proving what plants need to grow. These future engineers are currently designing their own investigation using worms they have been raising. They will soon have lively debates on whether the investigation they designed is fair.
