The Book Fair arrived at Valverda Elementary the week after Thanksgiving! During this week, students were allowed to make wishlists of items they wanted from the Book Fair to go back later in the week during scheduled times to get their treasures. Not only were students immersed in all types of books throughout the week, but were also excited about the opportunity to visit the fair with family members.
Thursday morning during Book Fair week was Valverda’s Math and Literacy Morning event. Students from each grade invited their parents/guardians to spend their morning breakfast time with them and also engage in math and literacy activities in the classroom. This time allowed parents an opportunity to view math/literacy skills; ideas to use at home with their children, as well as view what their child’s morning routine is like at school. This event was a hit; afterwards, students enjoyed visiting the Book Fair with their parents.
The Book Fair is greatly loved by all students and they cannot wait for it to return!
