Pointe Coupee Parish Child Nutrition Program participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, as well as the After School Snack Program. Our menus are designed to meet guidelines from the United States Department of Agriculture, as well as the Dietary Guidelines for Americans; offering a variety of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, healthy entrees, and low-fat or skim milk choices.
Students are offered five menu items daily for lunch. Of the five items offered each student must select three items. Due to NEW USDA regulations, effective July 1, 2012 all students in Pre-K-12 must select a fruit or vegetable in addition to or as one of the three items. USDA has implemented these changes to encourage students to eat more fruits and vegetables.
We take pride in preparing delicious, nutritious, and appealing meals for all students. Please encourage your children to eat both breakfast and lunch daily, as our goal is to improve the health and performance of our students. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast daily improve in academic performance, with increased ability to focus and concentrate on school work. We are happy to serve breakfast at school and we hope you will take advantage of the opportunity!
