Student Automobile Use Policy

Students who drive automobiles, motorcycles, or scooters to school shall be required to obtain the proper operator's license, liability insurance, and register such vehicle with a designated member of the faculty. Registration of the vehicle with school officials shall constitute permission by the owner to consent to a search of the vehicle by school officials or other properly authorized individuals when circumstances warrant in accordance with board policy or for health, safety, or security reasons.

REGULATIONS

1. Students must obtain parking permits for vehicles driven on school campuses, or any property that is leased or being utilized for school purposes.

2. To register a vehicle, students are required to submit a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and the fee at time of application period prior to receiving a parking permit, the student and his or her parent or guardian are required to review & a copy of the Student Automobile Use Policy.

3. Parking permit fees shall be assessed per school year and may be purchased in the administrative office or designated area at each school campus.

4. Students must park in the student parking lot or assigned parking area. Upon arrival, students are required to immediately exit and lock their vehicle. The resource officer may require that a student's keys be turned in upon their arrival. Students may not return to their vehicles for any reason during the day, Without administrative permission. Vehicles cannot be used for any purpose, unless administrative permission is granted.

5. Student vehicles are not to leave the campus until every bus has left the parking lot, unless permission is granted by an administrator.

6. Speed limits in safety restrictions should be closely followed by student drivers.

7. Student drivers will not be allowed to play loud music, race motors, or burn tires.

8. The point coupee Parish School board, or their respective school, is not responsible for any damage incurred while the vehicle is parked on the school campus, or on any property that is leased or utilized for school purposes.

9. Violations of this policy may result in the suspension of driving and parking privileges for a specified time period, for the balance of the school year. If privileges are suspended, the parking permit fee shall not be refunded.

10. Students are prohibited from loaning their vehicle to any other student.
