STEM Pathways at SMA: Pre-Healthcare and Pre-Veterinary
The LSU Biomedical Sciences Pathway began in 2019 with the goal of increasing the number of students taking high quality LSU STEM courses from LSU-trained and supported teachers. This pathway provides students with computational thinking skills, strong foundational understanding of biological science, effective strategies for professional communication, and experience working in a field of biomedicine.
Students who
complete the program have an opportunity to earn a silver or gold STEM endorsement on their high school diploma. This endorsement enhances their ability to set themselves apart from the rest. Program participants will learn about the many career options available in the biomedical field with project-based courses. They will also learn crucial science literacy skills to maximize their understanding of emerging and groundbreaking scientific research. These students will also gain strong application enhancers through experiential learning in a professional biomedical setting.
